If the Cardinal can't go to the Pope, The Pope goes to the Cardinal

Sat, 19 Apr 2008 16:24:16 PDT
How absolutely wonderful. The Pope is going to make a personal visit to Cardinal Avery Dulles in his bedroom while in Dunwoody seminary. It was not on his schedule. Cardinal Dulles is too ill to attend any of the events but no one deserves a private visit more. Dulles, who is 89, is one of the great converts and theologians of the 20th century and gave his final annual McGinley lecture at Fordham on April 1. When I met him last April, he was still able to walk with a cane. Now, he is whe

Iraqis Seize Moqtada al-Sadr Stronghold in Basra

Welcome news. Iraqi forces, backed by British troops and artillery and supported by British and U.S. aircraft, have routed Moqtada al-Sadr's Mehdi Army from its long-time stronghold in Basra, achieving an objective that had eluded Iraqi forces during a crackdown last month: IRAQI forces backed by British troops and artillery... Ebay Reconsidering Skype Purchase

Sat, 19 Apr 2008 16:25:41 PDT
Ebay, Inc. (EBAY) is currently reconsidering it’s ill-advised $3.1 billion acquisition of Skype after the auction company has continually failed to find ways to find synergies between Skype and it’s core e-commerce business. “What we’re testing this year are the synergies,” Mr Donahoe told the Financial Times this week after Ebay reported its latest earnings. “If the synergies are strong, we’ll keep it in our portfolio. If not, we’ll reassess it.” That could lead to the disposal of the busines

Fox News China

Sat, 19 Apr 2008 16:26:35 PDT
The Chinese-language television channels in our hotel seem to be split into news, music, and various historical dramas. The dramas are roughly half Kung Fu, half soap opera. The only modern drama we’ve caught is one that we could best interpret as Chinese Law and Order; but otherwise China does seem to prefer drama set in the pre-revolutionary past. Whether this reflects the preferences of the viewers, the producers, or the government censors, I don’t know. At least one of the dramas we caught

At Clinton HQ, they're making a list... checking it twice.

Sat, 19 Apr 2008 16:27:49 PDT
Another reason Hillary Clinton is losing may be explained in tomorrow's NY Times. The Clinton campaign seems to spend a lot of time figuring out which disloyal Democrats to hate -- and to what degree they should hate them. The Clinton campaign is on life support and they are busy making an enemies list. Last year, word was that Team Clinton basically went around to donors and others with a clear message, which I'll paraphrase here:Get on the bus, NOW. If you don't get on the bus, NOW, you will

10th Anniversary of Victoria’s Secret Angels

Sat, 19 Apr 2008 16:30:57 PDT
It’s been 10 years since Victoria’s Secret introduced the “Angel” collection and thus launched some of the most prominent names in the modeling business. Tyra. Heidi. Gisele. I’m not sure these ladies would be known by only their first names if it wasn’t for this legendary campaign. This past week, the newest Angel, Miranda Kerr, was on the CW11 morning news in New York discussing the anniversary exhibit debuting today in the flagship Herald Square location. A decade of Angel history is chronic
